GMSIG Mission Statement

The purpose of GMSIG is to promote increased awareness of the political, socioeconomic, and cultural factors that impact the vast global differences in public health status, policy, and health care delivery systems.

As future physicians, it is important for us to be conscious of the impact of globalization on the global burden of disease. GMSIG seeks to provide culturally sensitive education and the training necessary in order to serve and educate underserved populations both locally and globally.

Additionally, our goal is to provide a forum for student physicians to be able to discuss global disease patterns, and the impact of highly prevalent diseases (infectious and chronic diseases) with colleagues to appreciate the local impact of global health issues.
